Student Access Guarantee

Student Access Guarantee

Synonym(s): SAG

The Student Access Guarantee (SAG) is a program offered by York University in partnership with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU). Ontario's publicly assisted colleges and universities are required to ensure that financial need is not a barrier to accessing education. Students who apply for financial aid through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) are automatically considered for SAG and have their SAG funding automatically calculated if OSAP funds do not fully cover their assessed direct educational costs.

When OSAP funding does not cover all of the student’s program costs, students that qualify for SAG may receive additional financial aid in the form of York University scholarships, awards, bursaries if they apply on the University's bursary application.

The SAG is automatically assessed by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities and not all students receiving OSAP funding will be assessed as having remaining unmet need. All students must complete their Student Profile or other form of need assessment.
