A Canadian citizen is an individual who meets the criteria outlined in the Citizenship Act. In general, a person is considered a Canadian citizen if:

• They were born in Canada.
• They became a citizen through the naturalization process in Canada.
• They were born outside Canada and at least one of their parents was either born in Canada or naturalized in Canada before their birth.
