What is it?
The Ontario Photo Card is an official government photo ID that is used to access a wide array of services, including other forms of ID.
Who Can Get One?
Anyone can apply for an Ontario Photo Card if they:
- Are a resident of Ontario
- Are at least 16 years old
- Do NOT have a driver’s license
- Do NOT have a photo ID card from another province
Note: A person does not need PR or Citizenship in Canada to receive an Ontario Photo Card.
Where to Apply?
Ontario Photo Cards must be applied for in person at a ServiceOntario location.
An Ontario Photo Card costs $35.00

How to Apply?
Provide one of the following documents, which cannot be EXPIRED:
- Canadian Passport
- Foreign Passport
- Canadian Citizenship Photo Card
- Canadian PR Card
- A Valid Drivers License
- A Drivers License that expired less than one year ago
- Record of Landing (IMM100)
- Report Pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IMM1442)
- Study Permit (IMM1442)
- Work Permit (IMM1442)
- Visitor Record (IMM1442)
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Certified copy of live birth issued by Ontario
- U.S. Passport Card
- Confirmation of PR (IMM5292) AND passport from country of origin
