The Osgoode Investor Protection Clinic is operated by a team of highly-educated and motivated students. Many students have a business, finance, economics, or related background that helps them in understanding the complex issues faced by the Clinic. All legal work conducted by the Clinic is approved by highly-qualified lawyers that are from the Clinic’s supervising law firm. The Clinic directors manages the daily operations of the Clinic and conducts the teaching component.
Bilal Ak
Is a fourth-year JD/MBA student at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business. This past summer, he worked as a summer student at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP. He has also completed an internship in the legal and regulatory compliance team at the Bank of Montreal. Prior to law school, he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration. He looks forward to leveraging his experiences to advocate for harmed investors.
Jason Corry
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school he obtained his Bachelor of Sport Management at Brock University. Jason has volunteered with the Pro Bono Students Canada Investor Protection Research Project and spent last summer with Devry Smith Frank LLP where he gained experience in corporate and commercial litigation.
Haben Dawit
Is a third-year JD/MBA student at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business. Haben has worked for the past two consecutive summers at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, a leading business law firm and currently works as Assistant General Counsel for a venture-backed start-up. He is excited to learn more about investor protection and how he can help clients obtain recourse.
Shirine Haghjou
Is a second-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. This past summer, she worked as a Legal Intern at QuadReal Property Group, a global real estate investment, operating, and development company. Prior to law school, Shirine obtained her degree in Cognitive Systems at the University of British Columbia. She looks forward to leveraging her education and experiences to provide meaningful assistance to IPC clients.
Allyson Hamilton
Is a second-year student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Originally from Saskatoon, Allyson earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University before attending Osgoode. She has worked with start-ups, a venture capital firm, and various capital markets groups at major Canadian banks. She looks forward to leveraging her education and diverse experiences to find solutions for aggrieved investors.
Lina Kohandani
Is a second-year student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending law school, Lina obtained a degree in Honours Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Lina spent her 1L student at a commercial litigation and insolvency boutique, working on actions against fraudulent investment companies. She is thrilled to be a part of IPC this year and continue to help harmed investors.
Alyssa Marchese
Is a third-year JD/MES student at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change. Prior to law school, she earned her Bachelor of Environmental Studies from York University. Alyssa spent the past two summers working as a Summer Law Student at Aird & Berlis LLP. She is eager to leverage her professional experiences to assist IPC clients.
Raagavi Ramenthiran
Is a third-year JD/MBA student at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business. This past summer, she gained valuable experience as a summer caseworker at IPC and research assistant for Professor Poonam Puri. With a background in legal and advisory roles, ranging from real estate to business operations, Raagavi is eager to leverage her academic and professional experience to provide meaningful legal advice and advocate for those who have suffered financial harm.
Rishab Rekhi
Is a fourth-year JD/MBA student at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business. Before law school, Rishab completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University. He spent this past summer at Keyser Mason Ball, LLP gaining legal experience and is looking forward to leveraging his combined experiences to provide meaningful legal advice to assist harmed investors.
Elukshayn Rishihesan
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending law school, he obtained his BBA from the Schulich School of Business and has worked at a boutique law firm as well as in banking. Elukshayn spent the past summer working at the IPC as a summer student caseworker, where he had the opportunity to combine his interest in securities law with his long-standing desire to advocate and work closely with clients.
Shahaab Sherwani
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to Osgoode, Shahaab obtained a degree in Honours Political Science from Brock University and Paralegal certification from Seneca College. Shahaab spent his past summer working as a 2L Summer Student at McCarthy Tetrault and is excited to leverage his advocacy skills and academic background to make a true impact on IPC clients.
Ani Velinova
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours, with a Minor in Political Science from McMaster University. Ani spent the past summer working at the IPC as a student caseworker and research assistant, where she had the opportunity to assist clients in advancing their complaints.
Yubo Wang
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Before attending Osgoode, he earned his LLB from Peking University and pursued an LLM at Duke University. Yubo spent this past summer working as a caseworker and research assistant at the IPC. He is passionate about civil and commercial law and is dedicated to assisting vulnerable investors.
Yang (Rita) Yang
Is a second-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Society from York University. She has experience as a law clerk at a litigation firm and recently worked as a summer caseworker at the IPC and as a research assistant for Professor Poonam Puri. Rita is passionate about advocating for harmed investors.
Rose Zhang
Is a third-year JD student at Osgoode Hall Law School. Before attending law school, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, with a double major in Sociology and Equity Studies. Concurrent with her undergraduate studies, she gained extensive experience in the banking sector, working at a global financial institution for nearly seven years. Rose is eager to leverage both her academic background and professional experience to advance access to justice for investors who have experienced financial harm.
