The MedEdge Summit 2011 is a medical device and life sciences conference being held on June 16, 2011 at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The event is geared towards bringing industry leaders, academics and hospitals in York Region up to speed with the latest innovations in medical technology.

The agenda includes welcoming remarks from the Mayor of Richmond Hill, David Barrow, and keynote addresses from Wayne Gudbranson, President and CEO of Branham Group, and Pat Horgan, VP of Manufacturing, Development and Operations for IBM Research. There will also be panel discussions covering the latest advances in medical device technology, government programs, Ontario’s Fibre Optic Network, as well as various opportunities for networking.

One of the main sponsors of the Summit is ventureLAB who specializes in bridging the gap between information and communications technology (ICT) and life sciences. They are the York Region partner in Ontario’s Network of Excellence (ONE). ONE is a collaborative network that connects technological businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers to ultimately create an environment conducive to commercializing ideas.

ONE offers a wealth of services: educational programs, advisory services, industry-academic programs, customer development and financing. Their team of multi-faceted and experienced advisors can assist in determining which resources are the best fit for your organization. They consider multiple factors such as the product, available resources, and future goals.

The advisors at ventureLAB are successful entrepreneurs and can help regardless of an organization’s stage of development. Some areas they can provide assistance with are business planning, financing, legal and intellectual property, human resources, and product development to name a few.
