Congratulations to Prof. David Vaver on Being Named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

IP Osgoode is proud to announce that our very own Prof. David Vaver has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

Founded in 1882, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) comprises the Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences, and The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. The RSC recognizes excellence, advises the government and the larger society, and promotes a culture of knowledge and innovation in Canada and with other national academies around the world.

Fellows in the Academies of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science are elected by their peers for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievement. Recognition by the RSC is the highest honour an individual can achieve in the Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.

Prof. Vaver is recognized by the RSC as one of the world’s preeminent scholars of intellectual property law. His pioneering work on “user rights” and the public interest has brought fairness and balance to Canada’s intellectual property system. He is a prolific author of many acclaimed books, edited collections, and peer-reviewed articles, his scholarship is relied on as persuasive authority by courts and lawmakers, while his teaching and mentorship have nurtured many leading minds in the field.
