The Osgoode Hall Law School Library is moving! Construction on the renovation and expansion of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, including complete renovation of the law library, will begin this September. The library will be moving in stages over the next two weeks, beginning Monday, August 17. To facilitate the move, the library will be closed on Friday, August 14, and will reopen on Monday, August 31. During this time, no library services, with the exception of interlibrary loans, will be available. There will be no public access to the library.
Since the circulation desk will be closed, law firms sending couriers to Osgoode to pick up interlibrary loans should direct them to Room 024E, Osgoode Hall Law School.
When we reopen on Monday, August 31 (the first day of classes!), our library services (reference and circulation) will be located in temporary facilities in the building next door — Health, Nursing & Environmental Studies (HNES), Room 018 . Part of our text collection is being relocated to York University’s Scott Library and will be publicly accessible. The remainder of the text collection will be onsite but inaccessible to the public, though these texts can be retrieved by library staff and will be available for loan. Unfortunately, all of our extensive collections of statutes, law reports and periodicals will be going into offsite storage and will not be available until renovations are completed and the new library opens in 2011. However, we should be able to fulfill most interlibrary loan requests for these materials from our extensive digital and microform collections.
The library will remain in these temporary quarters for 18 months to two years. Our phone numbers will remain unchanged during this period.
