Justice Laws Website Now Official

The Consolidated Federal Statutes and Regulations on the Justice Laws Website are now official and are admissible as evidence in court. This is the result of the coming into force on that date of amendments made to the Statute Revision Act, which has been renamed the Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act. To see the relevant provisions of that Act, click here.

Another new feature of the Justice Laws Website is the availability of legislation in a side-by-side, bilingual PDF version. Reflecting the equal status of the two official language versions of federal legislation, this side-by-side version represents a significant accomplishment to note as the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Official Languages Act is celebrated this year.

Other important features provided on the site include:

  • Point-in-time access to consolidated Acts and regulations
  • An advanced search engine that allows for the use of complex search patterns, including word proximity and wildcard operators
  • Links to "Amendments Not in Force" and "Related Provisions"
  • An alternative view of the data using frames

The site also provides access to helpful research resources and links to other related Web sites.
