Students are nominated by their home university in Jiangsu based on that institution’s selection processes and criteria. Application forms must contain a list of three Ontario universities at which the applicant wishes to study. The OJS Program Office will place as many students as possible at their first-choice institution. It is program policy, however, that students be placed equitably throughout the system of participating Ontario universities. The prospective host university is responsible for deciding whether to admit students and at what level (graduate or undergraduate).
Exchange students must have completed 2 years of a recognized degree at their home university. Exchange participants will normally study for up to one academic year as non-degree students, but a one-semster exchange is possible. Participating students will pay tuition at their home university and will be exempt from paying tuition at the host university. However, host universities may charge certain incidental administrative fees. Jiangsu students will be responsible for their expenses abroad, including travel, room and board, health and accident insurance, miscellaneous incidental expenses that may be required by the host university, and other living expenses. Jiangsu students will be responsible for fees related to the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), mandatory for all international students at all Ontario universities with the exception of the University of Windsor which has its own mandatory health insurance program.
Note that Ontario universities may require a recent IELTS or TOEFL report. Each Ontario university (and sometimes program) sets its own language requirement.
Schedule and Deadlines
Student applications should be submitted to your International Office by January 1. In developing your application you are encouraged to review the Jiangsu Student Information Booklet for more details about the participating Ontario universities, including their language requirements. The information booklet and application materials can be found at the bottom of this page.
Application forms for students selected by each Jiangsu University to participate in the Ontario Jiangsu Exchange Program should be submitted to by January 15.
Successful students will be advised of their placements in the host Ontario University by April 15.
Students will apply for their visas during May-June. We will provide more information on this important step later.
Exchanges will begin in September.
