Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar Juan Pascual-Leone of York’s Psychology Department, Faculty of Health, has been elected an honorary member of the Academy of Psychology of Spain (Academia de Psicología de España).\
Pascual-Leone was one of three initial distinguished international psychologists elected to the academy. The Spanish government created the academy in 2015 with a mission to attain, promote and maintain the highest scientific, cultural and social level of psychology, as well as promote its practice for the benefit of individuals and society.
Pascual-Leone was born in Valencia, Spain. His commendation, translated from Spanish, reads: "He is an outstanding figure in the field of developmental psychology, having made important contributions on neurophysiological aspects of the theoretical framework initiated by Jean Piaget, of whom he was a distinguished disciple.”
Pascual-Leone is first author of a recently published book on his cognitive developmental theory and the research behind it, titled The Working Mind: Meaning and Mental Attention in Human Development (MIT Press).
