Isik Bicer

Isik Bicer, PhD, is an associate professor (with tenure) of operations management and information systems at the Schulich School of Business, York University. Prior to joining the Schulich School of Business, he was a faculty member at the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University in the Netherlands. He holds a PhD degree in economics (with specialization on operations research) from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Isik's research focuses on supply chain management, optimization theories, machine learning, and predictive modeling. He has 19 years of industry and academic experience with a track record of 15 top journal articles, a book about supply chain analytics (published by Springer Nature), another book about digital transformation (forthcoming by Cambridge University Press), and 8 completed digital transformation projects. As a professor, he counsels executives and helps companies achieve their strategic objectives with digital transformation. The analytical tools developed as an outcome of his research have been implemented in the pharmaceutical, automotive, agriculture, and finance industries.

Junyu (Sawyer) Liu

Junyu (Sawyer) Liu is currently a doctoral student of operations management and information systems at the Schulich School of Business. His research lies at the interface of supply chain management and market efficiency. He studies how analytical models can help reduce operational, information, and financial frictions in markets. He uses optimization methods, such as convex optimization, stochastic programming, and dynamic optimization, to develop data-driven models that benefit both supply chains and markets.
