Colonialism’s Ongoing Work

The GLRC will further contextualize its past thematic focus on "the interrelationships between migration, citizenship, and work”, which emphasized the movement of people across national borders and the impacts on migrant and new immigrant workers, cross-border supply chains and trade relations. Emphasis is placed on the ongoing legacies of colonialism and the development of global capitalism.

Opportunities will be provided to consider entanglements of migration with Indigeneity, gender, racialization, sexualities, abilities and class formations, encouraging reflection upon how these are produced in and through colonial-capitalism and the national state to shape work, labour and livelihoods.
