Hye Jin Kim is a Korean Foundation postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Education at York University. Her postdoctoral research examines the discourse of “future” in education policy in transnational Korea, focusing on how youth engage with the idea that they must become fit for the future to survive. Her doctoral dissertation examined how the notion of creativity has emerged and declined in South Korea’s education field in relation to the field of power using Bourdieu’s social theory. She also teaches Korean language courses at UTSC. While teaching Korean, she developed a research interest in the dialogical space opened up in Anglophone academia due to the rising popularity of Korean pop culture and language.
