Activity Bundles

You can also explore examples where we have bundled multiple activities together to enhance your students’ development. Below are six examples of bundles to inspire you (click the dropdown to view the bundle). You can customize all the Interactive activities to your course by following the “How-To” instructions.

  • Bundle 1

Many students struggle to make concrete connections between aspects of their courses that they really enjoy and the world of work. The same methodological skills they have learned to conduct academic research can be applied to research and analyze the world of work. This learning bundle will guide students through the process of making explicit linkages between the aspects of your course they find most interesting, and the world around them using research, networking and analysis. By integrating these exercises into your course as a graded component, you are providing students the opportunity to realize the possible relevancies of your course to their futures while gaining valuable skills they will use throughout their lives. This bundle can be customized to your course outcomes and can be expanded or scaled down in scope to fit your assessment strategy.

  • Bundle 3

It can be frustrating to spend hours preparing a syllabus or giving detailed feedback on assignments when students don’t read, let alone appreciate your efforts. This learning bundle incentivizes students to reflect on your feedback and the course syllabus more carefully. Their reflective responses are linked to action steps designed to increase student access to university support services and increase their sense of agency of their learning journey while developing their future goals.

  • Bundle 4

Through this bundle, students learn strategic ways to conduct organizational research to identify companies and organizations related to course topics. They are then guided through the process of archiving this information in an online map using Google My Maps. The map provides a useful resource for students to engage in career focused research once the course is over.

  • Bundle 5

Many instructors enliven their courses with EL activities such as guest speakers, group exercises, debates, simulations, or demonstrations. By including structured reflective exercises alongside these activities, you will help teach your students how to transform their learning to transferable knowledge or skills.

The first component in this bundle requires students to reflect before, during and after an EL activities, enabling them (and you) to notice any shifts in their understanding, perspectives, or abilities throughout the experience. EL activities focused on building knowledge can be paired with the activity linking this experience with their interests and values. EL activities intended to build specific skills can be paired with the competencies reflection to help students identify and articulate their strengths and skills goals in areas related to the course subject. Of course, all three activities could be combined into a graded assignment!

  • Bundle 6

The students in your courses will bring different levels of skills and experience with them. This learning bundle will help your students develop awareness of the skills they need to develop to do well in your course and develop a learning plan for doing so. Additionally, students will learn to identify their strengths and how they might build on these in their career plans.
