Welcome to MTA
The NSERC industrial stream CREATE-Microsystems Technologies & Application (MTA) training program aims to address the need for innovation in microsystems technologies and the skilled workforce to fill the rapid growth in the global market. Microsystems technologies are micro and nano-scale devices that combine electronic integrated circuits with additional non-electronic components on a single substrate. Advanced materials and microfabrication play critical roles in engineering microsystems for consumer electronics, environmental and aerospace monitoring instruments, medical devices, and flexible electronics.
MTA’s diverse team represents Canada’s leading research institutions and top employers. Established scientists and engineers will manage the program from multiple institutions in Canada with complementary expertise and training capabilities in the key application areas of space, environment, and medical applications.
Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) will learn transferable skills for designing and optimizing microsystems for space engineering and biomedical applications. In addition, the professional and collaboration training program will not only help HQPs transition successfully to the workforce but also meet the needs of the fast-growing microfabrication and microsystems sectors in Canada.
