IRSCL 17 Roundtable on Indigeneity & Children's & YA literature- July 30, 2017

We are proud to announce that the IRSCL Congress is coming to York University on July 29 – August 2. The Congress' theme is “Possible & Impossible Children: Intersections of Children’s Literature & Childhood Studies."

Join the organizers on Sunday July 30 for a roundtable on “ Indigeneity and Children’s and Young Adult Literature.” This roundtable features authors, illustrators, and performers from Indigenous communities within the colonial settler states of Canada and Mexico whose work explores the challenges and affordances of representing Indigenous experience in various media and texts for children and youth, as well as generative tensions in their work between local, national, and international conceptions of Indigeneity. Participants include Christy Jordan-Fenton, Margaret Olemaun Pokiak-Fenton, Drew Hayden Taylor, and Cuauhtémoc Germán Cuaquehua Calixto (Cuauhtémoc Wetzka).

When: 5:00pm-6:30 PM;
