HTI Bulletin: Solidarity Statement with Sudan

As African scholars and academics, we are deeply concerned with the crisis in Sudan. The armed conflict between the army and the state sponsored paramilitary group known as the Rapid Support Forces continues to threaten the civilian population and the democratization process in the country. We are extremely saddened by the number of civilian causalities and alarmed by the lack of respect for international law by both parties. We call upon the international community including the African Union, United Nations, and European Union to support an end to the war in Sudan. We stand in solidarity with the aspirations of the Sudanese people for freedom, peace, and justice, as expressed in the slogan of their December 2018 Uprising and struggle for a full civilian democracy. We call upon our colleagues in the international academic community to support this call and stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan.
