Guest Speaker Dr. Clive Aspin: Māori experiences of the pandemic: learning from the past to strengthen pandemic preparedness among Indigenous peoples
The Harriet Tubman Institute (HTI), Centre for Indigenous Knowledges and Languages (CIKL), and Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research (DIGHR) are pleased to invite you to the upcoming event featuring Guest Speaker, Dr. Clive Aspin. Dr. Clive Aspin (Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Whanaunga, Ngāti Tamaterā) is an Associate Professor of Health at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington, Aotearoa. His current research focuses on rangatahi (youth) suicide in Aotearoa where rates of suicide of young Māori are among the highest in the world. Drawing on lessons learned from past and present pandemics, this talk will identify and discuss Indigenous-centred approaches to overcome the likely challenges posed by future pandemics.
