trace: translating ‘xis part of a long-term culturally responsive, strength-based project organized by trace press to address structural and systemic racism within the literary sector, in conversation and partnerships with BIPOC literary translators, participants, community organizations and universities.

The 2022–23 workshop series begins with a focus on Tamil and Arabic literary translation, and explores the challenges and possibilities of feminist, decolonial, and anti-racist practices in translation.

Tamil-English translators, poets and writers are invited to join accomplished scholar-translators Nedra Rodrigo and Geetha Sukumaran at root, branch, driftwood, a series of workshops designed to share literary knowledge and inspire creativity in small spaces—with a focus on Tamil sensibilities.

Workshops are free, limited to 15 participants and filling up fast!
