Ma Jia is Associate Professor in the Department of Literatures, Languages and Linguistics at York University. He received his PhD from Nanjing University, China. Dr Ma published eight books including: proceedings of workshop Wenben de lvxing: jinxiandai wenxue de fanyi、chuanbo he shuxie (Traveling Texts: Translation, Dissemination and Writing from the Late Qing to the Early Republican Era, acquisition editor, co-editor, first, Fudan University Press, 2021); Incorruptible Love –The K. H. Ting Story (Co-author, first author, Peter Lang, 2018); Zhongwai wenxue jiaoliu shi:zhongguo –jianada juan (The History of Mutual Influence of Chinese and Canadian Literature, co-edited with Laifong Leung, 2015); Houtang zhuangzong Li Cunxu zhuan (The Biography of Emperor Zhuangzong, co-authored with Richard L. Davis, 2009), and Shizijia xia de paihuai (Wandering Under the Cross: Christian Culture and Modern Chinese Literature, 1995). Dr Ma also published more than 20 articles both in Chinese and in English.
Dr Ma’s research currently focuses on three areas: modern Chinese literature, Chinese history and Chinese North American diasporic literature. He takes particular interest in Christian cultural influences on Chinese literature and the history of mutual influences between Canadian and Chinese literature. He also studies Chinese Canadian literature in English.
