Wai-Chi (Gigi) Wong is a doctoral student in Media Studies at Western University. Her doctoral research focuses on the articulation and circulation of queer Asian diasporic affect in digital and emergent media (VR and AR), with an emphasis on queer diasporic Asian artists’ artworks for thinking gestures and bodily movements as a form of affective residue in reimagining different politics and narratives of queer belongingness and envisioning better forms of citizenship.
She has also worked for various educational and cultural organizations in Hong Kong, namely the Hong Kong International Photo Festival. She has assisted in developing, curating and executing photographic exhibitions such as “Provoke & Beyond,” in which she worked with local communities and schools to organize art exhibitions, artists’ talks and workshops in support of visual arts education.
