Yuly Chan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at York University. She completed her MA in Sociology at Simon Fraser University, where she analyzed Canadian housing policy through a Gramscian political economy approach. Her doctoral dissertation is a comparative historical analysis of struggles for and against the commodification of housing in Vienna, Berlin and Toronto. She is interested in Asian Canadian activism, particularly around social housing and anti-gentrification organizing in working class communities.
