Theryn is a doctoral student in Geography at York University. He holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Windsor and an MA in Labour Studies from McMaster University.
His research investigates the impact of the Canadian and Chinese governments’ promotion of green capitalism through state-backed projects. It focuses on the NextStar Electric Vehicle (EV) battery plant in Canada and the Xiaomi EV plant in Beijing, China.
His research seeks to contribute to Marxist theories of the state and its role in climate change mitigation, examining how state actions at local, provincial, and national levels shape climate policy and workers’ health in response to climate change.
