I hold a PhD from The English and Foreign Languages University and I am an External Research Associate at the York Centre for Asian Research. I was formerly an Assistant Professor of English Studies in Yemen. My research interests focus on Sufism, Sectarianism, Contemporary Arab Thought, and the current dynamics of the Middle East. I have contributed to research and translation for Professor Nalini Persram’s forthcoming book, Reckoning with Post-Revolutionary Yemen under Saudi-American Bombs (Palgrave). I am presently developing a research project examining Iran’s role in the Middle East.
