Alireza Gorgani Dorcheh (they/them) are a polỵdiscipliṇamory artist and a migrant worker living in Tkaronto, Treaty Thirteen. Alireza holds a master’s degree in Theatre Direction from the University of Tehran. Primarily through performance, film and clowning, they explore underlying structures of marginalization and oppression. In their theatre direction, they often draw on physical and experimental methods to stage political plays. They are also interested in community-engaged work, which has led them to volunteer work with various marginalized communities, from youth dealing with addiction to migrant workers. They are currently pursuing their PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies at York University, where they investigate the issues of undocumentedness/precarious status using performance ethnography with queer youth.
