Carli Melo is a doctoral candidate in York University’s Graduate Programme in Geography. Her doctoral research addresses questions of workers’ struggles, migration and uneven development, which she is pursing through fieldwork with Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand. Carli holds a master’s degree in Planning from the University of Toronto and an honours bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from McGill University. She has worked as a project coordinator with the Mekong Migration Network researching and advocating for the rights of migrant workers across mainland Southeast Asia.
