Jihong Kim is working on emergence of Korean nationalism in the early twentieth century. Employing cinema as a site where American, Japanese and Korean nationalities were performed in contact with one another, Jihong aims to understand cinematic text made by and for Koreans under the Japanese rule (1910–45). He is looking at literatures, films and government archives.
