I am a doctoral candidate in the School of Nursing at York University. I have a master's degree in maternal and child health care from C.M.C., Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Dr. M.G.R Medical University. I am a nurse educator, lactation consultant and perinatal nurse. As a researcher, my interests extend to broad areas, including the virtual reality in nursing education and practice, women's mental health, father's involvement in immigrant childbearing families, healthy behaviours of school-age children, neonatal pain relief, neonatal hypoglycemia, gender-inclusive language, and the promotion of breastfeeding support. I am multi-linguistic, speak Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Arabic. As an immigrant mother and an I.E.N. (Internationally Educated Nurse), my scientific inquiry focuses on fathering/parenting issues among South Asian-Indian immigrant families (young adults) during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. I plan to explore the intergenerational and cross-cultural differences among fathers in Canada's South Asian-Indian diaspora. The findings will explore possible solutions, strategies and community-based methods to improve and enhance the father's mental and well-being within South Asian society's heterogeneity.
