Jubelle is a master’s student in the Digital Media graduate program at York University. She holds a BSc in Physics and Computer Science from the University of British Columbia, having grown up as a Filipina-Canadian in Vancouver, BC.
Jubelle’s research in new media follows the research-creation approach; she seeks to use technology-based art to bring light to the experiences of first and second-generation Filipino immigrants and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Her work reflects on the effects that migration, assimilation and colonial mentalities have on cultural identity and mental health in the Filipino diaspora. She has a great interest in working with new media art forms such as audiovisual installation, computer animation, physical computing and game design.
