Liu Lin is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Shandong University, China. He is also Deputy Director of the university's Institute of Governance, which is an institution for research based on cooperation with scholars from the University of Chicago. He was visiting researcher at University of Chicago (2014–2015) and Clark University (2010). He was also lecturer for a conflict management course for the joint Shandong University and Clark University (Worcester, MA) MPA program; he assumed the role of Chinese Director from 2009 to 2011. He has also acted as the Co-principal Investigator of several world-renowned social surveys. His research is focused on the politics of China’s development and governance. His current projects include Chinese governance, social conflicts, and state-society relations. He writes and publishes academic articles in both Chinese and English. Dr Liu will be a visiting scholar at YCAR until June 2025.
