Lucy (Lu) Cai (she/they) is a Chinese feminist scholar and activist based in Toronto. She holds a BA in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and French from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Lucy's research interests in the transnational Chinese feminist movement have been largely influenced by her experiences as a feminist activist and organizer in Belgium, New York, Pennsylvania and Shenzhen, PR China. As an MA student in the Department of Gender, Feminist and Women's Studies at York University, she is currently working closely with Professor Joan Judge on research that examines how the Chinese Communist Party weaponizes cyber-nationalism to censor Chinese feminist voices in the public sphere.
