Professor Pietro Giordan researches on modern and contemporary, Chinese fiction, drama and cinema as well on comparative literature and culture. In his work he uses an interdisciplinary approach and is committed to improve the mutual understanding and collaboration among scholars from different cultural and geo-political backgrounds. He is the author of a study on Shen Congwen's fiction (Yunnan University Press 2013), and contributed scholarly articles to journals such as 文学评论-Literary Review and 中国学术-China Scholarship. His current main project is a monograph on Wang Xiaobo.
He served as Chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, where he also coordinated the Chinese Section for many years. He is also a member of the East Asian Studies Program and served as its Coordinator. He organized and co-chaired various conferences at York.
