Ria Jhoanna Ducusin is a doctoral candidate in the Geography program at York University. She also serves as a Graduate Associate at the York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR) and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Geography at the University of the Philippines Diliman. For her dissertation, she is working on the political ecology of flood disasters in the Philippine coastal cities. She aims to uncover the nuanced and complex reasons behind vulnerability and resilience influenced by various interacting sociopolitical and ecological changes in the system. Before joining York University, she taught at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science at Cavite State University. She also worked as a researcher on projects related to mining impact assessment and climate-smart agriculture at the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (UPLB). Ria holds a MSc in Environmental Science and BSc in Human Ecology from UPLB.
