Seemil (she/her) is a Pakistani-Canadian artist, researcher and writer from southern Ontario, and is a Social Anthropology doctoral candidate at York University. Seemil holds a Master of Arts in Gender Studies from Queen's University, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Socio-Cultural Anthropology, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media, Journalism and Digital Cultures Studies from the University of Toronto. Seemil's artistic practice is driven by interdisciplinary research centering production and performance of identity, the role of cultural workers and social movements, and the socio-political formation of communal identity in colonial contexts.
