York University has experienced a major cyber incident affecting a large number of servers and workstations. External incident responders have been engaged and investigation and containment has taken place throughout the night. The University is taking great caution with this event and to minimize the potential for further damage, the University’s connection with the Internet has been temporarily disabled while the investigation proceeds. Most York IT systems, including Moodle, will not be available while the network is disabled. Office 365 email/Teams and also the main York web site have not been affected by the incident and have been enabled to facilitate essential communications.
