Objective
To improve early detection of lung cancer, developing more effective treatments, or understanding mechanisms of resistance to current treatments.
Proposals must be relevant to lung cancer early detection or treatment, including but not limited to:
- Identification of predictive biomarkers of early stages of lung cancer, disease progression, or treatment response;
- Identification of novel treatments for lung cancer patients;
- Identification of mechanisms of treatment resistance;
- Comprehensive correlative studies on diverse bio-specimens (e.g., tissue, liquid biopsies).
These could include:
- Longitudinal biospecimens collected as part of an imminent* (predicted to be open for recruitment <6 months into the funding period), ongoing or recently completed early phase clinical trial.
*For trials not yet opened, investigators must provide a Letter of Support from the study sponsor showing commitment to provide study drug;
- Biospecimens collected as part of a real-world clinical trial with prospective clinical/treatment data collection;
- Biospecimens from richly annotated cohorts.
Eligibility
The principal investigator and co-applicants must hold a research position at a Canadian institution and be able to hold research funds at their institution.
How to Apply
York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including Letters of Intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services before they are submitted to the granting agency. For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORS Checklist, which requires the Dean’s signature. Please send the complete application, with the finalized budget and a completed ORS checklist to sciapps@yorku.ca, five days prior to agency deadline.
ORS is accepting electronic applications – the process is outlined here.
