Objective
  • To support the purchase of research vessel time.
  • To support multidisciplinary collaborations including Indigenous owned and operating research vessels in Canada.

This CFP is specifically for the Strategic Support Horizon and is designed for projects requesting ship time support to cover ship time fees only. Ship time fees will normally be used for a Canadian vessel, but can potentially be used for a foreign vessel. Projects will normally take place in Canadian water, but projects located outside of Canadian waters will be considered provided the applicants provide a strong argument for the importance to Canadians/Federal priorities. However, the goal of this call is to support Canadian researchers to lead the project/cruise, no matter where the cruise is taking place.

Eligibility

Eligible recipients of MEOPAR funds include: post-secondary institutions, research hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, Indigenous organizations and governments, municipalities, research networks, public engagement networks, companies that deliver public engagement activities, or start-up companies (including those housed in Canadian post-secondary-linked incubators). Eligible recipients do not include federal departments, agencies, or crown corporations of the Government of Canada.

How to Apply

York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including Letters of Intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services before they are submitted to the granting agency.  For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORS Checklist, which requires the Dean’s signature.  Please send the complete application, with the finalized budget and a completed ORS checklist to sciapps@yorku.ca, five days prior to agency deadline.

ORS is accepting electronic applications – the process is outlined here.
