Course Description
This course will address principles and application of eukaryotic genetics. Possible inclusion and applications of genetics to each student’s work will be discussed. Techniques such as genetic dissection, mutagenesis, genetic screens, methods for manipulating genes, chromosomal analysis, transposon and enhancer tagging, and positional cloning will be included in the lecture topics.
The course will be offered as 3 hr lectures per week for a 6 week period.
Evaluation:
2 Seminar (one hour in length) – oral presentation derived from the primary literature chosen by the student in consultation with the course director – 45% each
Participation – 10%
