What models can and cannot predict about the current COVID-19 pandemic

Speaker: Dr. Mac Hyman, Department of Mathematics, Tulane University

Dr. Hyman’s expertise is in developing and using mathematical models to forecast the spread of infectious disease and the relative impact of different possible mitigation efforts on this spread. He has over 250 research publications, most on modeling the transmission of infectious diseases, and edited ten research volumes on mathematical modeling. He is a past president of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
