Professor Barrett’s research is interdisciplinary, oriented towards the chemistry, physics, and engineering of biomaterials. Prof. Barrett’s research program focuses on developing new ‘green’ and sustainable materials, inspired by or derived from natural polymers such as silk, cellulose, and chitin, for various biomaterials applications. He also has a strong background in light-harvesting and light-responsive molecular materials modeled after retinal materials.
