Experimental and Computational Chemistry
The van Wijngaarden research group uses modern state-of-the-art spectroscopic techniques in the microwave through infrared regions to probe the energy landscape of molecules. Coupled with computational tools, we aim to derive accurate models that depict the structures and dynamics of fluxional species involved in a range of chemical processes from the benchtop to the stars. In addition to building and maintaining our own custom-made spectrometers for this purpose, we are regular visitors of the far infrared beamline of the Canadian Light Source synchrotron.
