  • To provide funding for integrated projects by researchers coming from at least three of the four subscribing countries.

Eligibility

Canadian researchers are invited to submit proposals in any discipline or subject area eligible for SSHRC funding. However, disciplinary coverage varies according to which national agencies are involved. Applicants uncertain whether their proposal would be eligible should contact the relevant national agencies for clarification.

Project applicants (i.e., main applicant, applicants, and co-applicants) can only be involved in one proposal in the current round as a project applicant. It is the responsibility of applicants (including the main applicant) to ascertain that the project applicants are compliant with this rule. If any individual appears as project applicant in more than one application, all applications will be declared ineligible and rejected by the Call Secretariat. Project applicants in one proposal may still be involved in any number of proposals as either team members or cooperation partners.

Cooperation Partners

There is also a special opportunity for co-operation with projects in Japan. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) will provide an independent funding opportunity on an application basis, to support cooperation partners in Japan involved in successful proposals.

Researchers from other countries may be included as long as they bring the relevant funding with them or are eligible for funding under one of the subscribing agencies’ rules. Proposals including other countries do not count against the three-country minimum requirement for the call.

Webinars

SSHRC will hold two webinars in English and one in French. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the webinars as they provide information and guidance from the funder on the requirements of the call, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. The two English webinars will be open to participants from around the world. The French webinar will be open to participants from Canada. Each webinar will last one hour.

How to Apply

SSHRC is the coordinating agency for this round. All proposals for this call will be submitted through the SSHRC Convergence Portal.

York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including Letters of Intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services before they are submitted to the granting agency.  For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORS Checklist, which requires the Dean’s signature.  Please send the complete application, with the finalized budget and a completed ORS checklist to sciapps@yorku.ca, five days prior to agency deadline.

ORS is accepting electronic applications – the process is outlined here.
