Objective

The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) is inviting applications for innovative research that will contribute to the prevention and response of violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC) and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality in low and middle-income countries.

SVRI grant-making is grounded in feminist principles and acknowledges and addresses imbalanced power dynamics between donors and researchers as well as in partnerships between high-income and low- and middle-income countries, and within countries and between researchers and practitioners. The SVRI calls for research that is priority driven and impactful and exemplifies equitable research partnerships and processes that promote the leadership of low- and middle-income country-based researchers.

How to Apply

Organizations can only submit up to two applications, therefore, York researchers are requested to submit one (1) electronic copy of the application, budget and budget narrative directly to research@yorku.ca by 9:00am on Friday, June 21, 2024 (please CC sciapps@yorku.ca). Potential applicants are required to submit by 9am on Friday, June 21, 2024 to allow ORS to coordinate a peer review process if necessary to select the two applications that York can submit.

York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including Letters of Intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services before they are submitted to the granting agency.  For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORS Checklist, which requires the Dean’s signature.  Please send the complete application, with the finalized budget and a completed ORS checklist to sciapps@yorku.ca, five days prior to agency deadline.

ORS is accepting electronic applications – the process is outlined here.
