Welcome to Eleanor Winters Art Gallery (EWAG)

The EWAG is a space dedicated to the talented and creative minds of the Fine Arts community here at York! The gallery exists to promote and exhibit the artistic and intellectual works of York students both past and present. EWAG strives to host a variety of exhibitions that highlight York's diverse community. The gallery is open to students, staff, and the community.

Upcoming Exhibitions

Description: This showcase will display artworks submitted by students in any program, year. Students may submit artworks of any medium and style. The EWAG curator will select a theme and select pieces from students’ submissions that represent and reflect their vision. 

This exhibition features various artworks that depict expressions, culture, journey, history of Black artists. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight diverse voices, experiences and creative narratives of Black creators.

This is exhibition showcases artworks made by 4th year students during the Winter semester to show their works made as students at York University. The exhibition celebrates 4th year students’ experience at York, and marks a final milestone as they being their journey beyond the their undergraduate degree.

Recent Exhibitions

Description: Fragments of Self: The Journey of Creation is an exhibition that features works from a diverse group of artists that use art to express their emotions, overcoming challenges, growth and transformations. Each artists presents their “fragment of self”
showcasing their unique experience and artistic practice to tell stories about vulnerability, anxiety, resilience, hope and self-exploration.

Utilizing diverse mediums to explore their artistic journey, these artists explore acrylic and oil on canvas, pencil and ink on paper to sculpture and mixed media with textile. By embracing various materials and techniques, they highlight that there are many unique
ways of self-exploration and show how creativity can serve as a powerful tool of personal growth.

Fragment of Self: The Journey of Creation becomes a space of reflection, inviting viewers to connect with their own experiences while witnessing the diverse ways artists navigate their inner worlds

Description:  This exhibition features various artworks that depict expressions, culture, journey, history of 2SLGBTQIA+ artists. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight diverse voices, experiences and creative narratives of 2SLGBTQIA+ creators, and to create a safe space for exploration. 

Description: This show is going to focus on artworks made by international students at York University, their experience of living abroad, pieces of art that show their cultural background or any other artworks made during the Fall term and previously. The goal is to represent international students’ achievements at York

Description: This is exhibition showcases artworks made by 1st year students during the Fall semester to show their first works made as students at York University. The exhibition displays 1st year students’ first attempts, the show supports them at the start of their journey in the art world.
