Learning to Hate: The Normalization of Intolerance

Presented By Dr. Barbara Perry

Monday November 22nd, 4-5:30pm

Session description:

The COVID-19 pandemic isolated the world in a way never done before, and as such, intensified the spread & spotlight of an equally virulent, pre-existing virus: hate. We saw a rising tide of anti-Black, anti-Asian racism, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia both on and offline, on and off our campuses, as we isolated & distanced ourselves from one another. As we return to campus, Dr. Barbara Perry, Director of the Centre on Hate, Bias & Extremism at Ontario Tech University explores how we may begin to learn and live together again in the face of normalized divisiveness & intolerance.
