June 3rd 1817

Our annual Conference convened in Middlebury, Vermont. We had a very harmonious time, Christian Love and concord abounded. The friends of Middlebury were remarkably kind, and affectionate. I received my station this year in New-York where I am at present, content to live and die in the glorious work of an itinerant Methodist Preacher. Much wisdom, patience, and moderation are necessary, to fit me for a successful discharge of my duty, as a minister, a husband, a father, a brother in the Church, a citizen.
