Changes and Course Completion Options

FW 2019-2020 AND WINTER 2020 TERMS

Course Completion Options for Students with Deferred Exams / Final Assessments.
A deferred virtual exam period will be held on the days of 17 and 24 January 2021, which will be centrally managed by the Office of the University Registrar to ensure a conflict-free schedule for students.
Course directors who gave students the option of a revised grading scheme of a course – including the option of an assessed grade – as a form of accommodation (made available by Executive on 16 March 2020) are authorized to make that option available again to students with deferred standing who originally chose not to accept that alternative measure in the winter 2020 term; those students have a new deadline of 8 December 2020 to choose this option.
Deans’ Offices are authorized to approve in-person final assessments in extenuating circumstances where they cannot reasonably be completed virtually or remotely, including performance or other hands-on demonstration forms of course assessment, subject to compliance with health and safety protocols.
The Senate Pass/Fail Grades Policy is temporarily suspended, permitting undergraduate and graduate students with deferred standing to select the pass / fail grading option for any courses in which they are currently enrolled, except:BEd, JD, BScN and Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP) and MScN courses continue to be exceptions to the Pass / Fail Grades Policy, however students in the the BScN degree program  may chose the option for any other courses that count toward their degreeThe number of credits for which pass/fail is chosen for the FW’19-20 and W’20 will not be added to a student’s total number of pass / fail credits.
Note: Students are encouraged to seek guidance about any implications of selecting the pass / fail option for a course(s) for their current or subsequent degree program.
Changes to Deadlines / Petitions Process for Students with Deferred Exams / Final Assessments.
Deadline to drop a course without receiving a grade has been extended to 5 February 2021 for students who completed their final exam / assignment from FW 2019-2020 in Summer 2020 or Fall 2020 and received their final grade, or who will write the exam(s) on one of the two deferred exam days of 17 or 24 January 2021 and receive their final grade.
Deadline for undergraduate and graduate students with deferred standing to opt in or out of the Pass / Fail grading option has been extended to 5 February 2021.
Students are not required to submit an Attending Physician’s Statement in support of requests for deferred standing or petitions. This change in process is in place until further notice.

SUMMER 2020 TERM

FALL/WINTER 2020-2021

Changes to the Term
No change to length of the terms has been made.
Unless otherwise approved on an individual basis, no in-person classes are being held. Courses continue through online and remote delivery formats.
Unless otherwise approved on an individual basis, no in-person final examinations will be held in the December 2020 exam period.
Changes to Deadlines / Petitions Process
Students are not required to submit an Attending Physician’s Statement in support of requests for deferred standing or petitions. This change in process is in place until further notice.
