Ajay Virmani was appointed to the Board of Governors on July 1, 2015 and serves as a member of the Governance and Human Resources and External Relations Committees.
Mr. Virmani is President and CEO of Cargojet, Canada’s largest cargo airline. His numerous years in the transportation field in Canada have made him a leader in this industry, owning and managing logistics companies with revenues in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Ajay has been recognized by his industry peers and was honoured with the prestigious “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” and his team as one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Managed Companies as well as being chosen as the “Largest Outstanding Business in Ontario”. While Ajay’s interests lie in both the aviation and film industries, he is also a notable philanthropist supporting several causes and charities both nationally and internationally. He was an Olympic Torchbearer for the 2010 Olympic Games.
Ajay immigrated to Toronto from his native New Delhi, India in 1975. He earned his MBA in International Marketing and Trade from the University of New York, in 1985. Recently he received an honorary Doctorate of Law degree from Assumption University.
