Experiential Education Symposium

By Sophie Bury, Rosanna Chowdhury, Lisa Endersby, Christina Marton, and Kathleen Winningham

The annual Experiential Education (EE) Symposium, organized in partnership with the Office of the Associate Vice-President Teaching & Learning and York University Libraries, took place on January 28th 2021 and, for the first time, was held virtually via Zoom. The three-hour event offered students, faculty, staff, and community partners an opportunity to discover how diverse experiential education is at York University and the ways in which EE adds value to the academic experience. The event included opening remarks from the event partners, a student and faculty panel discussion, and poster presentations by 14 students from a variety of disciplines showcasing the meaningful outcomes of their experiential education activities. Here is the link to learn more about the EE Symposium.

The EE Symposium team included: Kathleen Winningham (Director, YU Experience Hub), Lisa Endersby (Educational Developer, Teaching Commons), Brittany Maguire (Experiential Learning Community Liaison Coordinator, YU Experience Hub), Freda Liu (Experiential Learning Community and Workplace Coordinator, YU Experience Hub), Sophie Bury (Director, Learning Commons and Reference Services, Libraries), Rosanna Chowdhury (Experiential Education Coordinator, Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change), Merrill Gerstmar, (Experiential Educational Coordinator, School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design), and Christina Marton (Student Representative, Science).
