Reading for Teaching Fall 2024: September – December 2024
Join us to launch our community of colleagues interested in a semester-long exploration of a book about teaching. We will meet four times throughout the term on Zoom (link to be provided) to reflect, share ideas, ask questions, and connect as a community of practice interested in exploring teaching and learning through a literary lens. Synchronous sessions will include structured opportunities or activities designed to help us explore applying ideas from our reading to our teaching.
A collaborative program co-developed by the Teaching Commons and York University Libraries, our Reading for Teaching program is a collegial opportunity to engage with colleagues from across campus interested in reading and learning together.
Our read for Fall 2024 is Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI, by Wharton professor and author Ethan Mollick. Mollick advocates for integrating AI as a collaborator in teaching and coaching, highlighting AI’s influence on business and education. Co-Intelligence explores the idea of thinking and working alongside intelligent machines. Can we leverage AI’s capabilities while staying true to our teaching identities, and can we and our students learn from it without being deceived?
